At Step Two I consult on and lead a range of intranet strategy, requirements, business case, design and redesign projects at a mix of businesses and organisations. Clients include the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (see recommendation, below) and Westpac, the Audit Office of NSW, utility companies CS Energy and SunWater, Stockland Corporation, City of Sydney Council, Sunsuper and many more.
For 2009-10 I was also the coordinator, producer and a judge for the Intranet Innovation Awards, an annual series designed to uncover the best-of-the-best in intranet functionality, design and management. See (and purchase) the stunning Intranet Innovation Awards reports for reference.
I remain a judge for the 2011 Awards, entries for which are currently being assessed.
History
Prior to joining Step Two Designs I was a researcher, editor and intranet/social media specialist at internal communication research organisation Melcrum, with whom I still work on some projects, most recently (July 2010) publishing, How to use social media to solve critical communication issues.
I also co-founded of Melcrum's Sydney office in 2007.
Key areas of interest
Wrapped up in my work are a number of key interests including:
- service and experience design
- interface and user experience (UX) design;
- business application development;
- business improvement;
- innovation; and,
- gaming mechanics in business-oriented software
Public speaking
I'm keen to get out there and talk about my experiences in these areas. Spending much of my time running or facilitating workshops, presenting to senior leaders and businesses as a whole, I'm comfortable in this environment and try my best to adhere to Presentation Zen principles, while avoiding death by PowerPoint at all costs.
